  • Dec. 7 -- NYC -- day one of two..Every year my family travels north to the big city from Baltimore. It started nearly five years ago, and I've been roughly two or three times a year since. ..We walk miles around town, eat good food and relax. During other visits I've seen David Letterman, including this past July, or just visited for fun. But generally, there is no agenda and everyone sorta does their own thing. It's fun, but as mentioned, repetitive. ..I tend to walk around aimlessly finding features. Aside from just random pictures, tonight I set a theme for myself: Silhouettes. More of them to come.

  • I haven't put any of my Baltimore Sun work on Flickr, but now that these ran I figured they belonged on Strobist...These were shot during my first week of my internship and I had never shot any interior home, real-estate assignments ever; not even in my own place. So I went in with an open mind and shot things as I saw them...This just goes to show how a little simple lighting can spice up what could be just another home interior shot. I had fun and they turned out well, so I think. I think I may hit up the family real-estate agent and see how these compare to the stuff I see online...Strobist info: One SB on camera, second SB on stand using Nikon CLS. Output varied according to room size..---.BALTIMORE, MD -- 7/9/08 -- re.spaces27 -- The Desirable Spaces rowhouse located on Hudson Street in Canton has a guest suite below the main floor which must be enter through another door outside..Patrick Smith [Sun Photographer] #5023

  • I got a Canon G9 and the Canon WP-DC21 underwater housing last week and decided to finally test it out Tuesday. Let me tell you, that first time submerging it is like throwing a baby into the pool. You have no idea whether or not it will work (a la leak), or in the baby's case, be able to "swim."..I must say it is a lot of fun once you realize it's not gong to flood; I only wish I had more time to play with it. The hardest part is correcting the blue cast on the images in post. They look pretty disgusting straight out of the camera. I cannot wait to use it on an assignment if one ever lends itself to using it...Oh yeah, best part? Not the pictures, but underwater video. Trying to figure out YouTube uploading now...I used Auto Mode this first time, so catching light on faces had to be perfect.

  • Went to the beach this weekend. Last about a day and a half before I didn't feel that well and ended up watching TV all day Sunday. Nonetheless, I had fun.
