I got called to check out the mall evacuation Friday near the end of my shift. On my way I was thinking, Jack Bauer, season five of '24', screaming people, etc...I got off the Interstate 95 ramp and sat in traffic for 30 minutes. Complete standstill. Since they had all the roads to the mall blocked by police, I had to be that guy to try and get through. The first cop told me to keep moving. Great. Thanks, buddy...Fast forward another 30 minutes and about .3 miles traveled. Another nice officer let me by the barricade down the road. ..Then I get to where some TV crews were by the mall. The scene was nothing. No water (it was water main break that blew out the power for three and a half hours), no screaming or irate crowds of people. Nothing exciting to say the least. Just me, some BGE guys standing around, some news crews and a couple helicopters. ..I shot this as I transmitted from the parking lot leaning against my car for some shade. It was high 70s with no humidity. So at least the weather was nice.
